Luna Park welcomes guests with special needs and disabilities and every year hundreds of guests and their carers visit Luna Park to enjoy our rides and unique carnival atmosphere.

Below is some information about how we can help guests with Special needs enjoy their day at Melbourne’s Luna Park and some health and safety restrictions that may affect you.

Companion Card or Victoria We Care Card

Carers with a valid Carers Card can obtain a free ticket for entry and rides when they accompany a guest with special needs to the Park who has purchased a full priced ticket.

Please note that Carers will be required to show a valid Carers Card to Ticket Box staff to obtain their free ticket. If a valid Carers Card cannot be produced the carer will be required to full priced ticket (if they are still available at the time) in order to enter.

Disabled access

Risk assessments are conducted regularly and policies are reviewed annually to ensure that the Park remains as accessible as possible to all guests with disabilities, including wheelchair users.

Currently, the central areas of Luna Park are accessible via wheelchair and we have disabled facilities at both ends of the Park. We undertake to make as much of the Park as possible available to disabled guests but due to the historic nature of Luna Park, many of the rides and some of the attractions are not wheelchair accessible.

Ride Access with a Disability

While we always want our guests to have the best day out possible, our rides do have health and safety restrictions that ALL customers must adhere to. Luna Park wants all our guests to enjoy its rides and attractions and does everything possible to accommodate guests with disabilities. However, we must comply with various health and safety requirements that apply to disabled guests for their well being, as well as that of other guests and our staff.

For your safety, access to rides will not be allowed if Park staff deem access to be dangerous or inappropriate. Safety is always paramount and this is the major factor when considering what rides are suitable for each individual.

The Scenic Railway: Our 109 year old wooden roller coaster requires guests to evacuate on foot in case of an emergency. Guests who are unable to evacuate on foot are unable to ride on the Scenic Railway.

For all other attractions: Disabled guests will be required to sit unassisted to ride. Some rides may be suitable for disabled guests that do require assistance to ride but for safety concerns the selection of rides will be limited and are determined by the specific disability, the motion of the ride, ingress and egress, evacuation procedures and the safety of the guest.

Luna Park staff are not permitted to physically assist guests mounting or dismounting rides.

We are always happy to chat to you about your specific needs and give you more personalised advice about your visit. If the information above doesn’t answer all of your questions let us know by replying to this email or call our administration office on 03 9525 5033. Also, you can always speak to our friendly staff in the Park before purchasing ride tickets.

Thanks again for contacting Melbourne’s Luna Park and we hope to see you soon.
